Cruise Connectivity Troubleshooting

Follow these steps if your GigSky Cruise plan isn't connecting while you're onboard a supported ship.

If you're having trouble connecting while onboard, don't worry—most issues can be resolved with a few quick checks.

Common causes of connectivity issues

Before going through the troubleshooting steps below, check the following:

  • You're still in port or close to shore. Cruise connectivity begins once your ship is approximately 12 nautical miles offshore.

  • Wi-Fi is turned on. Turn off Wi-Fi while testing your GigSky connection.

  • Your GigSky eSIM isn't selected for mobile data. Make sure GigSky is the active data line.

  • Your ship isn't supported. Confirm your cruise ship is included in GigSky's list of supported ships.

If everything above looks correct, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

1. Check your device settings

Make sure:

  • Airplane Mode is turned off.

  • Wi-Fi is turned off while testing your GigSky connection.

  • Your GigSky eSIM is installed.

  • Your GigSky eSIM is turned on.

  • GigSky is selected as your mobile data line.

  • Data Roaming is enabled.

  • Your APN is set to gigsky (all lowercase).

2. Check your network settings

If your device is set to 5G only, switch the preferred network type to 4G/LTE, then try connecting again.

Some ships may have limited or no 5G coverage.

3. Move to a different location

Cellular coverage can vary throughout the ship.

If possible, move to an open deck or another area of the ship and wait a few minutes for your device to reconnect.

4. Restart your device

Restart your phone and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect to the ship's maritime network.

Good to know

  • While in port, your device may connect to a local land-based network instead of the ship's maritime network.
