To use any eSIM, your phone needs to:
Support eSIM
Be carrier-unlocked
Most recent phones support eSIM, but compatibility can vary depending on your device model, where it was purchased, and your carrier.
Check if your phone supports eSIM
One of the easiest ways to check is to dial *#06# on your phone.
A screen with information about your device will appear. Look for an EID number. If you see an EID, your phone supports eSIM.
You can also check your phone settings:
iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular and look for Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
Android: Go to your SIM or network settings and look for an option to Add eSIM.
Most recent devices support eSIM, including:
iPhone: iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and newer models
Samsung Galaxy: Many Galaxy S and Galaxy Z models, the Galaxy Note20 series, and selected Galaxy A models
Google Pixel: Many Pixel models
Others: Selected compatible devices
Keep in mind: eSIM support can vary by model, region, and carrier. For example, most iPhones sold in mainland China do not support eSIM.
For the most accurate answer, use GigSky's Device Compatibility Checker to check your exact device.
Check if your phone is unlocked
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. This means your phone isn't restricted to using SIMs from your current mobile carrier.
If you have an iPhone
Go to:
Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock
If you see No SIM restrictions, your iPhone is unlocked and can be used with a GigSky eSIM.
If you see something else, contact your mobile carrier and ask whether they can unlock your phone.
If you have a Samsung
Go to:
Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Network Lock Status
Here, you can check whether your phone is locked or unlocked.
If you have a Motorola or another Android phone
The steps can vary by model.
On some Motorola phones, you can go to:
Settings > About Phone > Device Details > Network Lock
If you can't find the network lock information on your phone, contact your carrier and ask them to confirm whether your device is unlocked.
eSIM adapters and unsupported devices
